Coding with Scratch
Code your first program in just 15 minutes, using the SCRATCH language. Then see how you can set up a coding class or club even with no previous coding experience. In this hands-on session you will also explore ways to introduce coding to students, and learn what types of coding are being taught in K-12 and college from an instructor who has taught 5 different coding languages. We’ll allow time for your questions about where coding fits into YOUR curriculum – and your students’ future.

This hands-on training will give you everything you need to know to use these powerful FREE tools from Google – Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, and more. You’ll learn how the use of extensions and add-ons that will add to the functionality of the Chrome browser plus some useful tips and tricks for using Chromebooks and other mobile devices with students. The day will end exploring Google Classroom including how to integrate FREE online resources from sites like PBS Learning Media and INFOhio into assignments.

Learn how ‘video games’ are transformed into powerful learning strategies through “gamification”, and how this might impact your classroom now, and in the future. We will work through different aspects of gamification to transform your classroom.
Video Games & Play in the Classroom Using Google Tools
Engaging in play is essential to our social, emotional, physical and psychological development. Normally we despise the idea of playing games in our classroom due to the negative connotation of video games and play. Come learn how to put together the pieces of a video gaming/play curriculum for your classroom using G Suite tools.
Registration must be received 2 weeks prior to the first class unless noted otherwise.
